Portland Metro Drywall
I showed up on-site right around 12. It wasn’t too loud at this very large new build in Portland. Bill McKee, the owner of Metro Drywall, met me and gave me a tour of the whole operation. He started his business way back in 2008—he took a chance and went out on his own with the goal of creating lasting relationships, one at a time. Many of the builders they work with today are the same ones he started with almost 20 years ago. The scope of work on this project is huge! There are tons of moving parts, and as we walked around, different employees would stop to ask him questions about the project. After our short meeting, Bill had to take off, and then the crew really got to work. It was like an intricate, coordinated dance—people putting on stilts, running up ladders, one guy tearing down boxes, another papering the floors. They all worked together seamlessly, barely needing to communicate about their movements. I love watching people who are really good at their jobs.
This is a collection of images from my time observing Metro Drywall doing their thing.
Many things set Metro Drywall apart, but one of the aspects they pride themselves on is their very experienced estimators (over 30 years of experience). This is vital to the success of their business because the estimators come in and ask the right questions. They’re more than just “Hey, we’re just gonna come in and hang doors.” They understand insulation, trim, painting, lighting, and electrical work. This helps ensure all the finishing touches fit smoothly into place. They can also provide a much more accurate quote. I would also just point out that drywall is one of the messier (if not the messiest) jobs when it comes to construction. Another thing Metro Drywall prides itself on is keeping a clean work site, even between coats of mud needing to dry.
If you have a drywall job, big or small, give Metro Drywall a call!
